Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the passing of a dedicated and respected journalist, Adibe Emenyonu, who until his death served as the Edo State Correspondent for ThisDay Newspaper.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, Okpebholo described Emenyonu’s death as a great loss — not only to his family and media organisation but also to the entire Edo media community and the state at large.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of a valued member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Adibe Emenyonu,” the Governor stated. “This is a truly painful moment for all of us. He was known for his professionalism, thoroughness, and dedication. His contributions to promoting accountability and informing the public were invaluable.”
The Governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the management and staff of ThisDay Newspaper, and the Edo State Council of the NUJ.
“In this moment of grief, we join in celebrating a life well spent in the service of truth and society. The late Adibe Emenyonu will be remembered for his commitment to ethical journalism and devotion to duty,” he added.
Governor Okpebholo prayed that God grant the departed eternal rest and give his family, friends, and colleagues the strength to bear the loss.
