The Oladipo Family has assured readers, advertisers, partners, colleagues and well-wishers of The Eagle Online that the digital news publication will continue following the death of its founder, Oladotun Samson Oladipo.
Oladipo, who founded The Eagle Online in 2012, died suddenly on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
In a statement signed by Taiwo Oladipo on behalf of the family, the family expressed profound appreciation to those who reached out following the journalist’s death, describing his passing as a devastating shock.
The family said Oladipo devoted a significant part of his life to journalism and spent the years after founding The Eagle Online building it into a respected digital news platform with a loyal readership, strong brand recognition and the confidence of advertisers and partners.
According to the statement, Oladipo was deeply passionate about the publication and regarded it not only as a business but also as a platform for responsible journalism and public service.
The family said it was important to reassure the publication’s readers, advertisers, partners and friends that The Eagle Online would continue despite the loss of its founder.
“In line with best practices, Dotun had foresight to have put in place some form of a business continuity plan. That plan has now been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision,” the statement said.
The family acknowledged the trust that readers and commercial partners had placed in the publication over the years, pledging to preserve the legacy built by the late journalist while ensuring that the platform continues to grow and serve its audience.
“We recognise that many people have invested their trust in The Eagle Online over the years. We do not take that trust for granted,” the family said.
It also assured advertisers and commercial partners that existing relationships and commitments remained important, expressing confidence in their continued support during the transition.
“As our family continues to mourn this loss, we ask for your continued prayers, understanding and support,” the statement added.
The family thanked everyone who had stood by the Oladipo family and The Eagle Online since the journalist’s passing.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue.
“The Eagle Online will continue to fly,” the family declared.
