KuAs the Yuletide season approaches and traffic volumes surge nationwide, ON THE HIGHWAY Africa has launched a strategic road safety campaign designed to curb accidents and promote responsible driving during the festive period.
The event is scheduled to hold on December 12, 2025, at the FRSC Ojodu Command, Lagos, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Central to this initiative is a high-level Town Hall Meeting and Awareness Campaign aimed at sensitizing motorists and strengthening stakeholder collaboration.
With the theme “Driving into the New Year: Safer Roads, Fuller Communities,” the campaign aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), both of which emphasize the need to reduce road traffic deaths and enhance transportation systems.
The Town Hall Meeting will convene key stakeholders across transport, traffic management, automotive, and media sectors to deliberate on strategies for ensuring safer roads during the festive rush.
Founder and Publisher of ON THE HIGHWAY Africa magazine, Julie Chi-Nwaoha, emphasized the collective responsibility required to keep roads safe, noting that “Road safety is everybody’s business.” She stated that the campaign seeks to deepen public awareness on the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and responsible road use.
The event will also feature prominent road safety officials, including:
ACM Ann Oladayo, FSI, Zonal Commanding Officer, Lagos and Ogun State Command
CC Kehinde Hamzat, Lagos State Sector Commander
CC Akinwumi Oladapo Fasakin, Ogun State Sector Commander
Panel Discussions
A series of panel discussions will engage experts from the media, automotive, and transportation industries on safety and security matters. The conversations will spotlight ongoing challenges faced by road users and explore practical ways to enhance road safety, particularly during the end-of-year travel period.
Beyond the Town Hall Meeting, the organizers have planned a compassionate post-event outreach to hospitals, where cash donations will be made to victims of road traffic crashes as a gesture of support and solidarity.
As a call to action, ON THE HIGHWAY Africa urges all road users to take personal responsibility for their safety and the safety of others. With cooperation, vigilance, and adherence to road safety rules, communities can reduce accidents and ensure safer journeys for everyone.
