The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) have expressed readiness to deepen collaboration in workforce development, institutional effectiveness and human capital development.
The Executive Secretary of PTDF, Professor Shuaibu Shehu Aliyu, received the Chairman and members of the NSIWC Board during a courtesy visit to the PTDF Headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of NSIWC, Major General Junaidu Sani Bindawa (rtd.).
Speaking during the visit, Bindawa said the NSIWC Board considered it important to visit PTDF in recognition of the Fund’s significant contributions to national development through its capacity-building and workforce development initiatives.
He noted that although both institutions have distinct mandates, they share common interests that provide a strong foundation for institutional collaboration.
Bindawa commended PTDF for its support towards developing the capacity of personnel of the Commission.
He also acknowledged the Fund’s sustained investment in human capital development, which, he said, had contributed significantly to improved workforce productivity and national economic growth.
In his response, the PTDF Executive Secretary reiterated the Fund’s commitment to partnering with institutions whose activities contribute to national development and align with its mandate in human capital development, research, innovation and institutional capacity building.
Aliyu said PTDF remained open to strategic collaborations that would promote knowledge development and workforce enhancement across critical sectors of the economy.
He emphasised the importance of a well-trained and appropriately remunerated workforce to achieving higher productivity and advancing Nigeria’s development objectives.
According to him, strengthening human capital remains critical to Nigeria’s transition towards a knowledge-driven economy.
The two institutions agreed to explore a structured framework for collaboration aimed at advancing workforce development, institutional effectiveness and national progress.
