The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken another significant step in its digital transformation journey with the official launch of the Management Information System (MIS) File Tracker at the PTML Area Command.
City Business News reports that the MIS File Tracker was unveiled on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, by the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of ICT and Modernisation, DCG Oluyomi A. Adebakin, during a working visit to the command.
The initiative represents another milestone in the Service’s expanding modernisation agenda, which is focused on deploying digital solutions to improve operational efficiency, enhance transparency and facilitate seamless trade.
Speaking during the visit, DCG Adebakin reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to transform its operations and improve service delivery.
As the architect of several landmark digital initiatives, including the Nigeria Trade Portal and the Customs Verification Management System, he said the deployment of the MIS File Tracker further demonstrates the Service’s resolve to embrace innovation in line with global best practices.
The PTML Area Command, widely regarded as one of the most technologically advanced commands in the Service, has continued to serve as the preferred pilot location for cutting-edge Customs modernisation projects.
The introduction of the MIS File Tracker further strengthens the command’s reputation as a centre for innovation within the NCS.
DCG Adebakin was received by the Acting Area Controller of the PTML Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko, and members of the command’s management team. The visit highlighted the strong collaboration between the ICT and Modernisation Department and the command in driving reforms aimed at improving efficiency and accountability.
The MIS File Tracker is expected to streamline file management processes, improve document tracking and strengthen operational transparency, contributing to faster and more efficient Customs procedures.
The latest initiative reinforces the Nigeria Customs Service’s determination to harness digital technology to improve governance, enhance trade facilitation and position the Service among Africa’s leading technology-driven public institutions.
