Range Rover has introduced mirror-finish, a new hand-crafted paint process that delivers a flawlessly smooth, glass-like surface with exceptional depth and brilliance, setting a new benchmark in personalised luxury vehicle finishes.
Developed to reflect the clarity and refinement of patent leather and polished stone, the mirror-finish paint is now available on all Bespoke gloss paint commissions for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, including match-to-sample requests. The process is enabled by advanced, newly commissioned spray booths that allow for a higher level of precision and consistency across every vehicle.
The unveiling follows Range Rover’s busiest-ever year for its Bespoke service, marked by a record number of commissions and special editions. Notable among them are the Range Rover Fifty-Five Edition, celebrating the original 1970 Lincoln Green Range Rover, and the Range Rover Asilomar, inspired by the blue hues of Monterey Bay and featuring a distinctive duo-tone exterior with custom, hand-crafted embroidery.
A new benchmark in paint technology
The mirror-finish represents the most advanced paint process ever developed by the brand. Conceived as a research-driven project, it was designed to recreate the clarity, gloss and smoothness associated with the finest luxury materials.
To achieve this, Range Rover Bespoke specialists created a new quality rating to benchmark the mirror-finish against previous paint techniques. The refined process incorporates a thicker top-coat lacquer and extended polishing stages, delivering a 25 per cent improvement in surface smoothness and a striking, glass-like sheen.
Dedicated facilities, artisanal craftsmanship
The expansion of Range Rover Bespoke facilities in 2025 introduced dedicated spray booths for this refined, hand-finished paint technique. Every Bespoke gloss paint commission now receives the mirror-finish as standard, while the new facilities will soon enable even more complex colours to be achieved, expanding the palette available to clients.
Each mirror-finish commission is entrusted to in-house experts, with the same craftspeople overseeing a vehicle throughout the entire process—from arrival at the Bespoke facility to final handover. Vehicles are hand-sprayed, sanded and polished over a meticulous three-day artisanal process. Specialists use wave scan readers to assess surface smoothness and identify any imperfections, before precisely hand-polishing around 15 microns of lacquer to achieve the deep, long-lasting lustre that defines the mirror-finish.
Martin Limpert, Global Managing Director, Range Rover, said the new finish embodies the essence of the Bespoke philosophy.
“Our new mirror finish is a perfect demonstration of what the Range Rover Bespoke philosophy stands for: refined craftsmanship, the highest levels of precision and the deepest personal connection. This new level of exterior refinement allows clients to express themselves with absolute clarity, while our artisans continue to push the boundaries of materiality and finishes to deliver one-of-one examples that are unmistakably Range Rover,” he said.
A truly personalised experience
Range Rover offers exclusive commissioning environments across the globe, enabling clients to co-create their ideal vehicles. One-to-one Bespoke commissioning for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is available at select Range Rover Houses worldwide, while Antwerp recently welcomed a new Bespoke Commissioning Studio.
The Bespoke service unlocks a wide range of personalised options, from custom embroidery and scripting to exclusive leather colours, extensive wheel choices and a match-to-sample paint service. Together, these elements allow clients to commission virtually any exterior colour they can imagine, ensuring every mirror-finish Range Rover is a singular expression of luxury, craftsmanship and individuality.
