The Senate has urged the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali to resign, thereby compounding ongoing face-off .
Deliberating on Wednesday, the lawmakers said the Customs boss was not fit to hold public office.
The development follows the Customs boss decision not to appear before the Senators in Uniform as directed.
Ali had told reporters on Tuesday that his decision not to appear was based on legal advice after a case was filed in court seeking the interpretation of a Customs law on uniform for the Comptroller-General.
The upper legislative chamber also rejected the letter issued by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, urging the lawmakers to suspend discussion on Mr. Ali.
