My direct encounter with super luxury Rolls-Royce Cullinan Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) could not have come at a better time.

Date was Saturday, August 28th, 2021. Location was the lonely and generous roads within the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, Lagos State. The location boasts of all categories of roads.

I have been part of the motoring press for over 20 years and participated in test drives within and outside the country. Nothing compared to being behind the wheel of a Rolls-Royce.  The feeling is different.

Indeed, test driving any product from the Rolls-Royce Stable is a rare opportunity in this part of the world, where auto dealers hardly make luxurious products available to Motoring Journalists.

Initially, when I got the invitation that Wednesday afternoon, I was a bit skeptical whether the management of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Lagos, would make Cullinan SUV available for a test drive.

The picture became clearer after I arrived Azuri Towers, Eko Atlantic City, the venue of the briefing and interactions before the test drive.

It was discovered that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Lagos, a subsidiary of Coscharis Group had carefully assembled a special team comprised of technical, sales and communication experts to handle the day’s proceedings.

While welcoming the team before setting out for the drive, Abiona Babarinde, the General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Coscharis Group gave the background behind the choice of location for the activation.

He said: “The choice of this location is to give you the smooth drive a Rolls-Royce Cullinan will deliver for you effortlessly on all the different road terrains you can imagine. Right here, you will enjoy the drive on a smooth road and sandy areas on the beachside that gives you both the on and off-road capabilities of the Cullinan within an environment like what we have at this Eko Development City here in Lagos”.

To deliver the “Ride and Drive” concept, this was anchored by Tolu Gbadamosi, the Business Manager, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Lagos who showcased the unique selling propositions of the Cullinan by driving each of the media partners on different routes/terrains after when the media team equally drove the vehicle to have the ‘feel to deliver the total experience.

The Rolls-Royce team delivered a total presentation of the Cullinan for any discerning prospect of owning what was described as the ‘luxury of SUVs’ when Michael Onyewuchi, the Ownership Services Manager of the brand gave a rundown of all the aftersales offerings that are available to give the customer the ‘peace of mind’ owning the Cullinan.

Aside from the warranty that is guaranteed from the purchase of the Cullinan from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Lagos, Customers are guaranteed of genuine parts to be fixed with the right tools by certified Rolls-Royce technicians to deliver the ultimate peace of mind to the customer based on the set global standards.

The first major attribute of the Rolls-Royce SUV is its balance and ability to navigates through narrow routes, without causing any discomfort or inconvenience to occupants.

Cullinan is the first SUV from the 116-year-old Rolls-Royce.

Driving through the roads in the Atlantic City, I discovered that, the Cullinandraws power from its 6.75-liter V-12 engine effortlessly and almost noiseless.

The SUV also boasts of taller and wider body frame. Cullinan measures nearly 209 inches in length.

The standard layout offers five seats, though buyers can opt for the more plush, twin-bucket rear that allows passengers to stretch out like they would on a business class jet.

The front seats are well padded and exquisitely upholstered, adding numerous massage modes and, of course, heating and cooling.

At the end of the afternoon time when the event came to an end, it was worth the while of everyone present with a good experience of a luxury product like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
