SAA President Meets Obasanjo, Seeks Stronger Ties on Agricultural Development

The President of the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), Mr. Shuichi Suzuki, paid a courtesy visit to former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The visit is part of Mr. Suzuki’s week-long familiarisation tour of Nigeria, focused on furthering discussions about the Japanese organisation’s enduring contributions to agricultural development and food security across the country.
Chief Obasanjo, while welcoming the SAA delegation, praised the organisation for its sustained commitment to Nigeria’s agricultural sector and its wider impact across Africa. He urged African leaders to take a cue from SAA by maintaining long-term investments in agriculture, noting that continuity is essential for true transformation in the sector.
In response, Mr. Suzuki expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed his mission to strengthen SAA’s partnership with Nigeria. He emphasised the association’s dedication to supporting the country’s agricultural growth through knowledge transfer, innovation, and collaboration.
