Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented Project Green, the Lagos Greenline Railway, to international partners at the Africa Investment Forum in Rabat, Morocco.
The session brought together representatives of the Federal Government, the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), and the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), offering another opportunity to highlight Lagos’ progress in building a modern, efficient and interconnected transport system.
Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that the Green Line is a major addition to the state’s expanding rail network, building on the achievements of the Blue and Red Line projects.
As a core component of LAMATA’s Strategic Transport Master Plan, the 70-kilometre electric rail line will run from Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, easing traffic congestion and supporting new waves of commercial and industrial growth across the rapidly developing Lekki–Epe corridor.
He noted that the project’s environmental sustainability features and its alignment with global best practices have strengthened investor confidence. According to the governor, the level of interest from international financiers at the forum exceeded expectations, reflecting trust in Lagos’ governance, economy, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
“We are shaping the future of urban mobility in Africa, and Lagos is moving forward with purpose and momentum,” he said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering a fully connected, easy-to-navigate and environmentally responsible transport network for Africa’s fastest-growing megacity.
