Members of the Proactive Shareholders Association of Nigeria have urged relevant Government agencies to prevail on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to extend till end of the year proposed amendment of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).
According to National Coordinator of the Group, Taiwo Oderinde, the extension is expected to provide more stakeholders opportunities to contribute to the proposed amendments.
Oderinde said: “The Corporate Affairs Commission ( CAC) as the custodian to CAMA has the responsibility of calling and informing all the Stakeholders and give them ample time to look at the proposed changes/amendments to the present CAMA”
He added: “Most of the Stakeholders we contacted also got the information on the proposed amendments to CAMA on the pages of the newspapers, which shows lack of respect for others and by extension to all the Nigerian citizens who are suppose to be the beneficiary of the proposed changes.
“Finally, we hereby requesting for an extension of time till the end of this year, 2016 for all the stakeholders to have time to study the amendments and to have input in the proposed new CAMA”.
