Shippers’ Council Boss Seeks NSITF Awareness For Staff

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius, has emphasized the need to sensitize staff on the insurance scheme managed by the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
Dr. Akutah made the call during a courtesy visit by NSITF officials to the NSC Headquarters in Lagos.
Represented by the Director of Human Resources Management, Alhaji Mustapha Zubairu, the NSC boss reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to staff welfare, particularly in the areas of insurance and health.
He noted that the Council already operates several beneficial policies that positively impact employees’ well-being.
He further urged the NSITF to strengthen its legal and operational framework to ensure that organizations like the NSC can fully maximize the benefits of the insurance scheme.
In his remarks, the Head of the NSITF delegation, Mr. Adegbite Oludotun, explained that the Fund provides compensation for insured government employees in cases of injury, disability, or death occurring in the course of duty.
Mr. Oludotun commended the NSC for enrolling in the scheme and assured that the Fund remains committed to ensuring timely compensation and enhanced employee protection.
