Skoda Auto global deliveries have dropped 2.7 per cent to 913,700 cars in the first nine months of 2019, compared to the same period last year.
The slump in deliveries is majorly due to the declining sales in China, where the automaker has registered 22.3 per cent drop with 194,500 units in the first three quarters of 2019. However, the automaker claims it registered an increase in sales in Europe and Russia.
In India, Skoda delivered 10,800 cars between January and September period, down 14.9 per cent compared to the same period last year, when it recorded 12,600 units. In September 2019, the carmaker delivered 1,200 cars, down 12.5 per cent compared to the same month in 2018, when it registered 1,400 units.
Globally, the Czech auto manufacturer has delivered 102,000 cars in September 2019, up 7.5 per cent compared to the same month last year. It also says that demands for the SUVs are increasing.
Alain Favey, Skoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, said, “In the first three quarters of the year, we delivered 913,700 vehicles to customers worldwide. Thanks to strong growth in Europe and Russia, we were able to compensate for the current developments in China.”
He also said, “With the current launch of our city SUV Kamiq in Europe and the upcoming presentation of Kamiq GT for the Chinese market in November, we are continuing our product campaign and winning over new customers with our attractive model range.”
