The Director-General and Chief Executive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, led the Nigerian delegation to the 31st Annual National Ethanol Conference (NEC) held in Orlando, Florida, United States.
The conference, recognised as a premier global gathering of stakeholders in the ethanol industry, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, investors, and regulators to examine emerging trends, innovations, and policy directions shaping the future of ethanol production and renewable energy.
The 31st edition, themed “Ethanol Unleashed,” highlighted the expanding role of biofuels in addressing global energy and environmental challenges.
According to Geoff Cooper, President and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), the association’s annual Outlook and Pocket Guide publications remain authoritative sources of data, facts, and statistics on the ethanol industry. He emphasised that ethanol continues to demonstrate its value in improving air quality, reducing carbon emissions, and lowering costs for consumers.
Dr. Okeke’s participation at the high-level forum underscores Nigeria’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, strengthening national standardisation frameworks, and exploring strategic collaborations within the renewable fuels sector. The engagement aligns with SON’s mandate to ensure quality assurance, promote industrial development, and support environmentally responsible production practices.
The Nigerian delegation leveraged the platform for knowledge exchange, building strategic partnerships, and gaining insights into global best practices that could accelerate the development of Nigeria’s biofuel and renewable energy industries.
