The Director General/Chief Executive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to improving the quality of sachet water production in the country through stronger collaboration with industry stakeholders.
Okeke made this known while hosting the Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP) at the SON Ogba Laboratory Complex in Lagos.

Speaking during the engagement, the SON DG appreciated ATWAP’s commitment to compliance, stressing the importance of sustained partnership between the agency and stakeholders in promoting product quality, ensuring consumer safety, and driving national economic growth.
In his remarks, the National President of ATWAP, Abdulhakim Mudathir, commended SON for providing a platform for dialogue and engagement. He highlighted key concerns of the association, including overlapping regulatory roles, policy inconsistencies, and rising operational costs impacting members.
According to a statement, SON reiterated its dedication to supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), deepening stakeholder engagement, and enforcing standards that will boost consumer confidence in locally produced sachet water across Nigeria.
