For the month of August 2020, India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) total domestic (domestic + OEM) sales increased 20.2 percent at 116,704 units as against 97,061 units in the same period last year.
In the passenger vehicle (PV) segment, the automaker saw an uptick of 21.3 percent at 113,033 units as against 93,173 units in August 2019.
Domestic sales, which includes the PV and the light commercial vehicle (LCV) Super Carry sales were recorded at 115,325 units last month, up 21.7 percent as against 94,728 units in the same period last year.
However, the company sold 1,379 units to other OEMs, a drop of 40.9 percent as compared to 2,333 units sold in August 2019.
For the Mini segment models (Alto and S-Presso), MSIL domestic sales clocked 19,709 units in August 2020, an increase of 94.7 percent as compared to 10,123 units sold in August 2019. Meanwhile, the Compact segment (WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Tour S, Dzire) saw an uptick of 14.2 percent at 61,956 units as against 54,274 units sold in the same period last year.
Similarly, Utility Vehicles segment (Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6) grew 13.5 percent at 21,030 units in August 2020 as against 18,522 units in August last year.
Total sales (domestic + exports) for the month under review stood at 124,624 units, up 17.1 percent as compared to 106,413 units in August 2019.
The company’s total export sales saw a decline of 15.3 percent at 7,920 units in the last month as against 9,352 in the same period last year.
