The second edition of the Kestin Pondi Business Grant aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening grassroots economic development was held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at MBB Consortium.
Sponsored by Kestin Ebimobowei Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, the initiative forms part of activities marking his birthday and his commitment to supporting small and growing businesses.
Excitement filled the venue when Pondi announced that this year’s grant would be ₦10 million per beneficiary, double the ₦5 million awarded during the first edition of the programme. The announcement sparked joy and emotional reactions from the entrepreneurs present, as loud cheers echoed across the hall.
The originally selected 50 entrepreneurs each received ₦10 million, bringing the initial disbursement to ₦500 million.
In a further show of support, three prominent leaders expanded the initiative through additional donations. Godfrey Tare Pondi contributed ₦100 million to support 10 entrepreneurs, while Michael Ifeanyi Anoka, Delta State Commissioner for Power and Energy, donated another ₦100 million for 10 beneficiaries. Also, Festus M. Ochonogor, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), added ₦100 million to fund another 10 entrepreneurs.
Their contributions increased the number of beneficiaries to 80 entrepreneurs, bringing the total grant disbursed to ₦800 million.
Notably, the first edition of the programme in 2025 empowered 40 entrepreneurs with ₦5 million each. This year’s edition doubled both the grant value and the number of beneficiaries, demonstrating the growing reach and impact of the initiative.
The event attracted top government officials, members of the Tantita management team, community leaders, and business stakeholders. A special birthday presentation was also made to Pondi in recognition of his commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and promoting economic development.
The Kestin Pondi Business Grant continues to stand as a symbol of visionary leadership, generosity, and sustainable economic empowerment, particularly for grassroots entrepreneurs in Delta State and beyond.
