President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the tenure of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three-year term.
The renewal takes effect from October 20, 2026, following the expiration of their first three-year tenure, which began on October 20, 2023.
Dembos, from Yola, Adamawa State, is a former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).
He previously served as Executive Director, Marketing, at the NTA after retiring from the organisation in 2017.
He joined the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989 after completing his National Youth Service and subsequently rose through the ranks, serving at various times as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano.
He retired in 2017 as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre.
Ali, a veteran journalist and media manager, has over 30 years of experience in journalism and media management. He has maintained a strong interest in media evolution and content development in the digital era, particularly in meeting the information needs of a diverse population through alternative news platforms.
He holds a first degree in English from Bayero University, Kano; a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University, Kano.
President Tinubu urged both chief executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by sustaining their commitment to the mandates of their respective organisations.
He also charged them to continue supporting the promotion of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda through effective public information and communication.
