Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP), operator of the ETO electronic call-up system for truck scheduling, has unveiled plans to deploy a new suite of technologies aimed at improving cargo evacuation and traffic management around Nigeria’s seaports in 2026.
Speaking at a roundtable meeting with the Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN) in Lagos on Friday, Managing Director of TTP, Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, disclosed that the company has successfully facilitated the movement of over 900,000 trucks into the ports this year alone.
He noted that TTP’s technology-driven solutions have continued to support shippers, transporters, terminal operators, port operators and FMCG companies in improving operational efficiency across the logistics chain.
“Over the past five years, we have deployed technologies that help enhance the quality of movement, manage facilities, and ensure that goods, vehicles, and people move quickly and efficiently. And that is what we have done consistently,” he said.
Welcoming the TTP delegation to the SCAN Press Centre, SCAN President, Mr. Moses Ebosele, reaffirmed that the facility remains open to all industry stakeholders.
He encouraged the delegation—and the wider maritime and transport community—to make full use of the centre, noting that “our doors remain open to all stakeholders within and outside Lagos.”
Speaking on TTP’s plans for 2026, Onwubuariri announced that the company is stepping up efforts to reduce human interference in port processes through enhanced automation.
“We are stepping up the system to ensure that new technologies are deployed to reduce human interference. Currently, we are investing in an Electronic Tagging System. We have also designed an e-column Interchange Transaction Log and the YAD Traffic Management Solution, among others, to eliminate delays,” he said.
He explained that the Electronic Tagging System will significantly enhance security and transparency in truck processing at port gates.
“The truck has a tag which reads off cameras and e-tag readers at the port gate. The barrier opens once the tag is recognised, and the driver enters. That identity is maintained for the truck throughout its operations in the maritime sector. The same system can be used to access multiple facilities,” he explained.
He added that TTP is also working with government agencies to integrate ETO into the upcoming National Single Window platform, designed by the Federal Government to streamline port processes.
Onwubuariri revealed that discussions are underway to expand the ETO platform beyond Lagos.
“We are currently engaging Cross River, Abia, Kaduna, Bauchi and Yobe states to deploy ETO as both a traffic management and infrastructure management solution. By next year, more developments will unfold,” he stated.
License Renewal and Performance Indicators
Responding to questions on the renewal of TTP’s operational license, the Managing Director expressed confidence that the renewal process will proceed smoothly, citing the company’s compliance with contractual requirements.
“Everything required for the license renewal has been done on our part. We have met our performance indicators and submitted our request. The feedback is that it is under review. The next step lies with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA),” he said.
Recounting the progress made since ETO’s introduction, Onwubuariri recalled a Lagos Chamber of Commerce report in 2019 which stated that Nigeria was losing $1.7 billion annually to port congestion—stemming from delays in export and import operations.
He noted that the introduction of ETO and supporting technologies has significantly reduced congestion, improved turnaround times, enhanced cargo visibility, and bolstered the country’s overall logistics competitiveness.
More details of the 2026 technology rollout are expected to be unveiled as TTP finalises integration with national systems and state-level partners.
