UBTH CMD Visits Yongxing Nigeria, Strengthens Corporate Partnership

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the management of Yongxing Nigeria Limited, a leading steel manufacturing company in Benin City and one of the hospital’s key corporate clients.
The UBTH delegation was warmly received by Yongxing’s management team, led by the company’s Safety Manager, Mr Chen Ji Lin, who represented the Managing Director, Mr Zhang XiangHai. He expressed appreciation for UBTH’s commitment to quality healthcare, particularly in providing round-the-clock medical services to Yongxing staff who work in shifts.
In her remarks, Prof. Ize-Iyamu thanked the management of Yongxing for their warm reception, extended New Year greetings, and expressed gratitude for the company’s consistent support since the beginning of her tenure.
She commended the strong and mutually beneficial relationship between UBTH and Yongxing Nigeria Limited, while expressing optimism for expanded collaboration that would further benefit the South-South region.
Responding, the management of Yongxing Steel assured UBTH of its continued support, noting the long-standing partnership between both institutions. The company also recalled its collaboration with the hospital during UBTH’s 50th anniversary celebrations as a testament to the enduring relationship.
Yongxing management further commended UBTH’s doctors and nurses for the quality care provided to their staff over the years and expressed interest in participating in the hospital’s football competition initiative in future editions.
The visit was marked by the exchange of gifts between the two institutions, symbolising goodwill and continued partnership.
Members of the UBTH delegation included the Chief Medical Advisory Committee Chairman (CMAC), Dr Osaigbovo Emmanuel; Acting Director of Administration, Mrs J.J. Oyakhilome; Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Clinicals), Dr Philip Osho; Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Research and Ethics), Prof. (Mrs) Ehizele Adebola; former CMAC and Head of the Department of Surgery, Prof. Stanley Okugbo, as well as other members of the hospital’s management team.
