UBTH Honours Agenmonmen With Humanitarian Excellence Award

The Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. (Mrs.) Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Agen Lonspan Industries, Rt. Hon. Chevalier Andrew O. Agenmonmen, JP, KSG, KSM.
During the visit, UBTH presented Rt. Hon. Chevalier Agenmonmen with an Award of Humanitarian Excellence in recognition of his exceptional philanthropy and sustained humanitarian support to the hospital, particularly his contributions to improving healthcare delivery and service to humanity.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director expressed deep appreciation to Agenmonmen for his unwavering support to the health sector. She highlighted his long-standing interventions in the settlement of medical bills for indigent patients, noting that his generosity has eased the burden on vulnerable families and saved countless lives.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu commended his consistent commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, described his contributions as a true demonstration of service to humanity, and prayed for continued strength, increase, good health, and many more years of impactful service.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Chevalier Agenmonmen, JP, expressed gratitude to the UBTH Management for the honour, stating that his philanthropic efforts are motivated by love for humanity. He disclosed that for over two decades, he has consistently supported indigent patients at UBTH, particularly through the settlement of medical bills.
He reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to sustaining this humanitarian support and expressed his readiness to deepen collaboration with UBTH in advancing healthcare delivery and promoting service to humanity.
The visit also provided an avenue for meaningful engagement, as both parties discussed potential areas of future collaboration aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and fostering institutional partnerships for the benefit of patients and the wider community.
