The liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Pan Americas, the second one constructed for the Queensland Curtis LNG Project, has been handed over to its owners.

Jointly owned by Teekay LNG Partners, China LNG Shipping International, and China’s CNOOC Limited, the 174,000 cbm vessel was constructed by China’s shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

Following delivery, Pan Americas commenced a long-term charter contract with oil major Shell.

Featuring 98,500 dwt and a length of 290 meters, the carrier was named and completed at the shipyard on January 12.

The vessel is part of a batch of four LNG carriers ordered for the Queensland Curtis LNG Project in 2014.
