Not less than 3,124 Edo State residents, on Friday, benefitted from Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer programme.
Head of Unit, Household Uplifting Programme (HUP), Edo State Cash Transfer Unit, Mrs. Flora Bossey, while addressing journalists after distributing debit cards to beneficiaries of the programme, in Benin City, the Edo State capital also commended the State Government for providing human resources and a conducive office environment for the scheme.
She said, “Beneficiaries from Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State are here today to collect their debit cards as cash transactions have been stopped since last year. The 3,124 people are part of the 12,108 beneficiaries under the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer programme.
“Cash Payment stopped in April last year as the process has been digitalized. Debit cards are being given to beneficiaries of the programme. For Edo, they are being paid 20 months’ arrears of their N5000. The cards are pre-loaded with N100,000. The beneficiaries are here to collect their debits card.”
She added, “The staff helping the Federal Government to actualise the projects at this level are state government staff. They provided the human resources for the Edo office to help organize the programme in the state. They also provided a conducive environment and office that is well furnished.”
