By Bishop David Ajang

Bishop David Ajang was in Benin City for the funeral of the late Archbishop Augustine Obiora Akubueze, who, until his death, was the Archbishop of the Benin City Archdiocese and Metropolitan of the Benin Province.
The late Archbishop Akubueze was the pioneer Bishop of the Uromi Diocese before becoming the Archbishop of the Benin City Archdiocese.
He has been described as a true servant of God, a father to many, and a shepherd who gave his life for the flock.
Commenting further, admirers said the late Archbishop was a teacher who imparted wisdom, a counsellor who carried people’s burdens in prayer, and a builder who nurtured churches, raised leaders, and inspired hope in hopeless situations.
He will be fondly remembered as a compassionate leader with deep faith and profound wisdom. May God grant his soul eternal rest and reward him abundantly for his labour in His vineyard.
