The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest monthly revenue ever, raking in ₦323 billion in July 2026.
The feat marks a new milestone for the nation’s busiest port and builds on the ₦304 billion record the Command set in October 2025 under the leadership of Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba.
Speaking during the Command’s monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers of Terminals and Unit Heads on Tuesday, Comptroller Oshoba attributed the breakthrough to policy support, operational reforms, and improved trader compliance.
He commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the NCS management for driving the Service’s modernisation agenda.
“The management team has introduced several innovations that have streamlined our activities and given us clear direction,” he said.
Oshoba highlighted key reforms boosting revenue:

The CAC also credited the enabling environment created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly the relative stability in the foreign exchange market, for boosting importers’ confidence and trade volumes.
“An enabling forex regime allows business operators to plan better and conduct trade with greater confidence,” he noted.
He said intelligence-driven enforcement has further strengthened compliance, with officers intensifying interventions to detect false declarations and enforce valuation principles to protect national revenue.
Oshoba charged officers to go beyond routine collections and focus on value-adding interventions in their areas of responsibility.
“When you interact with stakeholders, let them leave your office with hope rather than despair. As a leader, do not allow anyone who comes to you to depart feeling hopeless,” he directed.
He stressed prompt dispute resolution, proper documentation, and use of Post Clearance Audit, PCA, where necessary. He also called for heightened security consciousness, continuous training, transparency and teamwork.
The CAC urged Officers to support Deputy Controllers in fostering a work environment rooted in compassion, empathy and welfare of personnel.
While commending officers and compliant stakeholders for the achievement, Oshoba described the ₦323 billion collection as a “stepping stone” to further breakthroughs as 2026 winds down.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to trade facilitation, ease of doing business, and sustaining momentum through professionalism and collaboration with sister agencies.
