Former Vice President and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar has denied alleged role in the forced retirement of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, from the police force in 2002.
Reacting to the allegation, the former Vice President explained in a statement issued by his media office in Abuja on Tuesday, 31 January that at no time did he suggest nor propose the removal of Akiolu from the police force.
The statement explained that Atiku never supervised the Nigeria Police or the Police Service Commission, and therefore, couldn’t have been part of any alleged plot to force the Oba out of public service for committing no offence.
The former Vice President also explained that he had no power over the Police Force or the Police Service Commission to remove anybody for whatever reason from office without committing any offence.
Atiku denies alleged role in Oba Akiolu’s forced retirement from police
Atiku Abubakar emphasised that he was not familiar with Oba Akiolu as at the time the monarch was removed from the Police Force.
The lagos Oba should lick his wounds and leave other people out of the misfortune he brought upon himself…
We all know he was kicked out by OBJ because of his excesses as the head of the police strike force.
The lagos Oba should thank his stars that he was in the good books of OBJ, if not he would been treated like or worse than his then boss Tafa Balogun..
Shame on him for forgetting so fast that it was the current President then military dictator that disarmed the police force equipped by the Shagari govt.
Go sink yourself in the lagoon where you belong.
