Controversy trailing the salary of top executives of General Motors (GM) continued on Monday. A West Virginia Democrat Richard Ojeda, who is considering a presidential run in 2020, tweeted about General Motors CEO Mary Barra on collecting $22 million salary.
“At General Motors, CEO Mary Barra ‘took home almost 22 million dollars last year alone.” he tweeted.
Barra’s salary has turned out to be 295 times higher than an average salaried worker at General Motors who receives $74,000, according to a report by Money and Markets.
The CEO is already the most unpopular in the US post the announcement of company shutting down five plants in North America and handing pink slips to 15,000 jobs.
Barra was also slammed in another tweet for corporate greed and cutting jobs along with plant closures after receiving a bailout and tax breaks that kept the company afloat during the Great Recession.
