An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Tuesday granted a divorce prayer of a businessman, Mr Moruf Fabowale, on grounds of adultery.

Delivering judgment, the President of the Court, Mr Koledoye Adeniyi, ordered that Fabowale and Shakirat should go their separate ways.

”If the evidence of the petitioner is anything to go by, there is no doubt that the marriage between Mr Moruf and Mrs  Fabowale has broken down beyond repair and there is no more love between them,” he held.

After dissolving the marriage between them, he said there should be no bickering and whoever was not satisfied with the judgment had the right to appeal within the next 30 day

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the petitioner, Fabowale, who resides at No. 3, Atinuke Ogundipe St, Ikotun, had approached the court to grant him a divorce on grounds of extra marital affairs, false accusation, defamation of character and public embarrassment.

“Since we got married my wife has been committing adultery.

”She is a violent person and very temperamental, abusive in nature and has on so many occasions threatened to leave the marriage.

“She also has no iota of respect or love for me and would insult me at any slightest opportunity making the home a living hell for me.

”I have not had any peace since our marriage in 2014, I have been suffering from emotional and psychological trauma.

“She insults my friends and relatives at will, every effort to make peace has proved abortive as she has vehemently refused the settlement, so I’m pleading with the court to grant me a divorce from her,” he said.

The respondent, Shakirat was absent throughout the proceeding in spite of several summons, so was unavailable to give her evidence.
