The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) commitment to deepening collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in tackling human trafficking and the illegal trade in endangered species across Nigeria’s borders.
CGC Adeniyi made the pledge on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, when he received a delegation from NAPTIP on a courtesy visit at the Customs Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja.
Welcoming the delegation, the Customs Chief commended NAPTIP for its tireless efforts in protecting vulnerable persons and curbing transnational crimes.
He assured the team of the Service’s unwavering support and readiness to collaborate closely in pursuit of shared national security objectives.
“Nigeria’s security challenges demand joint action. At the Nigeria Customs Service, we do not view crimes merely through the prism of smuggling but as part of a broader national security concern,” Adeniyi stated.
“We believe in the power of collaboration. We can achieve more with less when we work together.”
The CGC disclosed that the Service has strengthened its focus on environment
