Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the launch of a dedicated hotline to enable Nigerians report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.
The initiative, according to the refinery, is aimed at promoting transparency, affordability and consumer protection in the downstream petroleum sector. The hotline number, 0800 123 5264, is now active nationwide and allows consumers to promptly report violations, helping to ensure uniform pricing across over 2,000 MRS filling stations nationwide.
The move follows Dangote Refinery’s recent commencement of nationwide PMS sales at ₦739 per litre, a strategic intervention designed to stabilise fuel prices and ease the financial burden on Nigerians, particularly during the festive season.
Speaking on the development, the refinery reaffirmed its mission to provide affordable, high-quality fuel while safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests.
“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Report any MRS station selling above this price by calling our hotline. Together, we can ensure that the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer,” the refinery stated.
Dangote Refinery also assured Nigerians of steady product availability, backed by a guaranteed daily output of 50 million litres, and warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply in response to the price reduction.
“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.
By refining petroleum products locally at scale, the refinery noted that it is reducing Nigeria’s dependence on fuel imports, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the Naira and strengthening the nation’s energy security. The initiative, it added, represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s drive towards sustainable energy solutions and economic recovery.
Consumers were therefore advised to resist buying fuel at inflated prices when cheaper, high-quality, locally refined alternatives are readily available.
