Edo Flags Off Polio Vaccination

The Edo State Ministry of Health has commenced Polio Vaccination Campaign for Children across all Local Government Areas in the state.

 Speaking during the official flag-off ceremony, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole emphasized the critical importance of immunisation in the fight against polio.

 He urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to take full advantage of the ongoing campaign by presenting their children for vaccination at the nearest primary healthcare centre, which remains open and fully equipped for the exercise.
According to him, “Vaccinating our children against polio is not optional, it is a responsibility we owe them. No child in Edo State should suffer a disease we can prevent.”
Dr. Oshiomhole further reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to reducing infant mortality and sustaining access to quality healthcare delivery under the distinguished leadership of of the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

 He noted that strengthening immunization remains a top priority in Edo State’s health agenda.
The campaign will continue until Thursday, 8th May, 2025, and aims to reach every eligible child across the state.
