Ethiopian Airlines Group has announced plans to establish a new aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in West Africa in partnership with Asky Airlines.
A statement explained that the proposed facility follows the outcome of a feasibility study which confirmed strong demand across the region for expanded maintenance capacity. The project is expected to improve access to critical technical services, enhance airline operational efficiency, and drive skills development and job creation.
The new MRO hub forms part of Ethiopian Airlines’ broader expansion strategy, as the carrier continues to strengthen its technical capabilities and infrastructure across the continent.
The statement explained that the airline has already made significant investments in advanced maintenance facilities at its base in Addis Ababa, positioning itself as a key player in aviation services in Africa.
According to the airline, the planned West African facility will help address existing gaps in aircraft maintenance services, reducing reliance on overseas repairs and minimizing aircraft downtime for regional carriers.
