Finance Ministry, CBN Sign MoU To Strengthen Policy Coordination

The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening coordination between fiscal and monetary policies and promoting greater macroeconomic stability.
City Business News reports that the agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Governor of the CBN, Olayemi Cardoso.
The framework is designed to improve policy consistency and enhance information sharing between both institutions, while strengthening economic forecasting and supporting efforts to sustainably reduce inflation.
It is also expected to promote conditions that support investment, economic growth and job creation.
The MoU institutionalises collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Finance and the CBN, reinforcing the government’s commitment to coordinated economic management and long-term economic resilience.
The framework is expected to provide a more structured basis for aligning fiscal and monetary policy actions in response to evolving economic conditions.
