President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, held extensive talks in Paris with Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group as part of his working vacation, with discussions focused on deepening the group’s investments and operations in Nigeria.
The group’s media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
During the meeting, Bolloré and his executives confirmed plans to deepen the localisation of their operations in Nigeria, particularly across film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure and related sectors.
The executives also outlined a series of new investments centred on Nigeria, which they described as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, driven by the global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats and growing international demand for Nigerian creative content.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic development and growth, with emphasis on creating jobs for young Nigerians and expanding digitalisation.
The President welcomed the group’s decision to deepen its localisation in Nigeria, noting that the country’s growing global cultural influence presents an opportunity to attract more production, investment and employment opportunities.
He said his administration would continue to support investments that expand the creative and digital economy, develop local talent, strengthen infrastructure and position Nigeria as a base for businesses serving Africa and the global market.
Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Agenda was focused on building an economy where Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and global cultural reach could translate into greater opportunities and improved livelihoods for Nigerians.
The meeting underscores the administration’s efforts to attract private-sector investment into Nigeria’s creative and digital industries while strengthening the country’s position as a regional hub for entertainment, technology and related businesses.
The statement was issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
