The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed more than 170 ambulances across the country to strengthen emergency response and rescue operations following road traffic crashes.
The Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Osondu Ohaeri, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja while responding to questions on the operational capacity of the Corps’ emergency ambulance network and its response to road traffic crashes (RTCs).
Ohaeri said the deployment was part of the FRSC’s efforts to ensure prompt medical intervention for crash victims and improve the efficiency of emergency rescue operations on Nigerian roads.
According to him, the ambulance network is strategically positioned across the country to facilitate rapid response to road traffic emergencies and provide immediate assistance to victims before they are transferred to appropriate medical facilities.
He noted that timely intervention remains critical in reducing fatalities and the severity of injuries arising from road traffic crashes.
The FRSC spokesperson further stressed the importance of strengthening emergency response mechanisms, particularly along major highways and other routes with high traffic volumes.
He said the Corps would continue to enhance its operational capacity and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve road safety and emergency medical response nationwide.
