The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at NAF Base Ikeja, Lagos, following their delivery by Airbus.
The exercise, conducted with the support of Airbus technical personnel, marks a significant step in strengthening technical collaboration and facilitating knowledge transfer within the Service.
It also provides NAF personnel with practical exposure to the support, maintenance and sustainment of modern rotary-wing platforms, further enhancing the Service’s technical capacity.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as a positive step towards strengthening the NAF’s technical and operational capabilities.
“Beyond acquiring modern platforms, we are committed to developing the knowledge, partnerships and support systems required to maximise their operational value and sustain them throughout their service life,” Aneke said.
The H125 helicopters are expected to provide additional capabilities for ongoing NAF operations, including surveillance, tactical mobility and other operational support missions.
The NAF also acknowledged the continued support and strategic direction of the President and Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration, it said, has continued to support fleet modernisation and efforts to enhance national security capabilities and operational effectiveness.
