Barring any last minutes adjustment, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will before the end of this year purchase Abuja residential accommodation for Deputy Corps Marshalls (DCMs) at a cost of N300 million.
Also within the year, the management of FRSC has proposed N8.3Billion for General Allowances and social contributions as part of measures to boost and sustain the morals of all employees.
A highly placed source informed City BusinessNews Online (www.citybusinessnews.com) that the FRSC has also put in place necessary arrangements for training, adding “for this year, the sum of N12.2million is for honorarium and sitting allowance while N10.3million is for General Training”.
According to the source, FRSC is determined like never before to reduce road accident drastically and boost the moral of its staff.
In a related development, FRSC is to fast-track the construction of Benue and Ekiti Sector ommands at N124,507,382 and N124,507,382 respetively.
To successfully prevent accident, FRSC within the period is to carry out research on causes of road traffic crash at a cost of N25million while N59,041,486 has been earmarked to secure frsc land at Gwagwalada.
Explaining further, the source said the proposed projects are subject to the “availability of funds and prevailing exigencies and other factors”.
Meanwhile, three persons out of the people that attacked the FRSC’s patrol team in Igbo – Ukwu in Anambra state have been arrested by Anambra State Special Anti -Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police .
According to Bisi Kazeem , Head Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC, effort is on to effect more arrest for formal prosecution of the miscreants and Okada riders .
Reacting to the arrests, FRSC ‘s Corps Marshal , Boboye Oyeyemi commended the Inspector General of Police and also thanked the Anambra State Command and particularly the Anambra State Special Anti Robbery Squad that effected the arrest of the culprits.
Oyeyemi appreciated the promptness and diligence of the arrests and enjoined them to fish out others at large for prosecution so as to serve as deterrent to others that might have such plans in the future while also reiterating that the Corps will no longer accept such actions as norm.
