The Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS,) Hon. Oladele Bankole-Balogun has commended the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) E&P Limited for their contributions to the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.
The EIRS Tax Chief made the commendation when he led the EIRS Management team on a courtesy visit to the office of the Executive Director, Finance, Mr. Bello Nura at the NNPC Corporate Head Office.
Hon. Bankole-Balogun noted that for sub-nationals to exist and meet up with financial obligations to its citizens, individuals and corporate organizations adhere to and are compliant at contributing to the development of the State.
He explained that the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo is desirous of positively transforming Edo State through reliance on his five points agenda which rely on security, health, Infrastructure, Education and Agriculture.
The agenda he said can only be realized when citizens or workers pay their taxes to the government.
He sued for total compliance with tax issues particularly on outstanding tax liabilities.
In his response, the Executive Director, Finance NNPCL (E&P) Limited, Bello Nura
assured the EIRS revenue chief of meeting its tax and corporate social responsibilities.
The ED-Finance stated, ‘We have been paying taxes. We will not owe Edo State Government as far as tax is concerned. Beyond taxes, we remain a corporate organization that carries out its corporate social responsibilities (CSR) to support government programmes as the government can’t do it all alone.”
