The 46th Annual Convention of Ladies Of St. Mulumba (LSM) Nigeria has commenced in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The theme of the convention is: “Women Taking Responsibility for the Future: Role of LSM as Christian Women.”
The annual LSM convention is a gathering of delegates of the Ladies of St. Mulumba from all over Nigeria for the purpose of appraising the role and mission of LSM in the Church and in the world, especially so as to be more inpacttul.
At this convention, the LSM will look at he situation of our country Nigeria, the conditions of living, the situation of women in the scheme of things in the country, projections about the future, and the role of women (especially Christian Women) in shaping the future.
The convention is, therefore, interested in issues bordering on economic hardship, hunger, poverty, security, health, agriculture, business, unity, peace, leadership, politics, faith, religion, morality, etc. They wish to look at how the Catholic faith makes the LSM especially positioned to drive positive change in the family, the Church, and the society.
They also aim to remind themselves of their responsibilities in the family, the Church, and the world.
Consequently, they shall consider sub-themes such as: “The LSM and the Family”, “The LSM and the Church”, and “The LSM and the Society”.
During last year’s edition of the Convention which held in Warri, Delta State, the LSM took up an empowerment project aimed at impacting indigent women. They empowered 17 women. In March this year, they empowered 52 women. At this convention, they will empower 100 women.
The Opening Mass of the Convention held at Holy Rosary Parish, Wuse, Abuja, 8th November, 2024.
After the Mass, all proceeded to Top Rank Hotel, where other activities shall continue. Rev. Fr. Dr. George Ehusani shall give a keynote address on the theme of the convention.
