The Lagos State Government has completed the rehabilitation of a critical 9-kilometre stretch of the Lekki–Ajah Road from Chevron to Admiralty (Lagos-bound) in just 27 days, surpassing the projected 41-day completion timeline.
During an inspection of the project, the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, confirmed that the wider 28-kilometre corridor—spanning from Lekki–Ajah Bridge to Admiralty on both carriageways—is being executed in phases to minimise disruption and accelerate delivery.
He disclosed that rehabilitation works on the Epe-bound carriageway will commence soon, as part of the state government’s broader strategy to restore critical transport infrastructure and improve traffic flow along the busy corridor.
Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, emphasised that the successful and timely completion of the Lagos-bound carriageway was largely driven by a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan implemented from the onset of the project.
According to him, strategic traffic diversion, enhanced personnel deployment, and real-time monitoring mechanisms ensured minimal gridlock despite the intensity of construction activities.
Osiyemi commended Lagosians for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the rehabilitation period, assuring residents and commuters that improved traffic frameworks would remain in place as work progresses on other segments of the corridor.
The rehabilitation of the Lekki–Ajah axis is expected to significantly ease congestion, enhance road safety, and boost economic activities within the rapidly expanding Lekki-Epe corridor.
