The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola on Saturday urged police officers’ wives in the state to be of good conduct anywhere they find themselves.
Ishola, while gracing the end of the year party for police officers’ wives in the state organized by the Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Abiola Ishola, also enjoined the women to pray for their husbands at all times.
According to him, policing is not an easy job, adding that a policeman with a supporting wife would always surmount the hurdles associated with policing.
” It is not easy to be a policeman’s wife, not every woman can be a policeman’s wife.
For instance, I remember when we just got married and I was called at 1am to come and quell a robbery attack, I just picked my AK-47 and left, but my wife called my late mother panicking, but my mother told her that she too was a police officer’s wife and urged her to continue to pray for me that the God that protected my late dad in the line of duty will protect me too, that was the last time she ever called my mother to exercise such fear” Ishola said.
He added that, ” everything in life is by step and stages, let us just be hopeful to God and while being hopeful, we should learn to be good citizens too. If people don’t appreciate who we are, we know our wives appreciate who we are”.
To this end, he implored the women to ensure that the home front is kept strong, while their husbands are away serving the people saying, “Not everyone is equip to be a police officer’s wife, please ensure that you keep the home strong, while we are away on duty and make sure you always pray for our safety. Feel special and don’t let anyone rubbish you, it is not easy to marry a police man”.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Chief organiser, Mrs Abiola Ishola, said the event was put together to enable the women relax and celebrate themselves for seeing the end of year 2024.
According to her, the party is a means of destressing and jollificating for the women.
She explained that, the whole idea is to enable the women mix, have fun and deliberate on the successes recorded in the outgoing year and plan for a better incoming year.
“We just decided to put this together for us to come under one umbrella to party , have fun and destress, we thank God Almighty for seeing us to this point in the year and I’m optimistic that we will all see the end of year 2024 rejoicing to the glory of God”
