
The Nigerian stock market sustained its bullish momentum on Wednesday, advancing by 0.11 per cent as investors recorded a gain of N141 billion.
The positive performance was driven by sustained investor interest in stocks such as Legend Internet, Zichis Agro Allied Industries, Premier Paints, John Holt, and Consolidated Hallmark Holdings, alongside 27 other equities that pushed the market into positive territory.
Market capitalisation rose by N141 billion, representing a 0.11 per cent increase from an opening value of N128.836 trillion to close at N128.977 trillion.
Similarly, the All-Share Index (ASI) climbed by 219.87 points, or 0.11 per cent, rising from 200,705.88 to 200,925.75. This growth further boosted the Year-to-Date (YTD) return to 29.12 per cent.
Despite the gains, market breadth closed flat, recording 32 gainers and 32 losers.
On the gainers’ chart, Legend Internet led with a 10 per cent increase to close at N7.26 per share. Premier Paints and Zichis Agro Allied Industries followed closely, each appreciating by 9.93 per cent to close at N31 and N11.40 respectively. John Holt rose by 9.79 per cent to N15.70, while Consolidated Hallmark Holdings gained 6.26 per cent to settle at N5.26 per share.
Conversely, Fidson Healthcare topped the losers’ chart with a 9.97 per cent decline to close at N94.85 per share. Austinlaz dropped by 9.89 per cent to N4.01, while Livingtrust Mortgage Bank fell by 7.08 per cent to N4.46 per share. Secure Electronic Technology declined by 7.04 per cent to N1.32, and Sterling Nigeria shed 5.56 per cent to close at N7.65 per share.
Trading activity weakened during the session, with total volume traded declining by 58.34 per cent to 537.99 million shares valued at N25.39 billion across 45,641 deals.
Wema Bank recorded the highest volume of traded shares at 104.33 million, accounting for 19.39 per cent of the day’s total volume. Meanwhile, MTN Nigeria led in value terms, with transactions worth N19.39 billion, representing 29.68 per cent of the total value traded for the daynan
