The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the NIN-enabled Government-to-People (G2P) Card Project for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
The strategic collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing transparency, improving system efficiency, and strengthening beneficiary targeting in the implementation of Federal Government empowerment initiatives.
Under the agreement, the integration of the National Identification Number (NIN) into the G2P card framework is expected to streamline the delivery of financial support and other empowerment benefits directly to eligible Nigerians, reducing leakages and eliminating intermediaries.
The initiative is also designed to ensure that government interventions under GEEP are more accountable, traceable, and impactful, particularly for small-scale entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups across the country.
Stakeholders believe that the partnership will not only deepen financial inclusion but also reinforce public confidence in social investment programmes by guaranteeing that benefits reach the intended recipients in a timely and efficient manner.
