The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), in partnership with the Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI), has concluded a comprehensive capacity-building and training programme for operational personnel under the Bus Reform Initiative.
The programme covered drivers, ground staff, and ticketing officers, who underwent intensive sessions on safe driving practices, professional conduct, and excellent customer relations. The training represents a strategic investment in staff development and a critical step toward strengthening regulated, safe, and customer-focused public transport in Lagos State.
Speaking at the closing session, Dr. Stephen Ogunkoya, representing the Head of Bus Service, LAMATA, Dr. Kemi Amure, described drivers as frontline representatives of the Lagos State Government. He charged participants to consistently demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and customer service in their daily operations.
According to him, “This is more than just a training; it is a vital investment in your career and in the future of public transportation in Lagos. The expectations are high because the public interacts with you daily and forms its perception of government services through your conduct.”
The capacity-building initiative aligns with LAMATA’s ongoing commitment to improving service quality, safety, and public confidence in the State’s transport reforms.
