
Tinubu’s Turbo Fest 2026, held on Sunday in Abuja, has been described as a landmark event in Nigeria’s automotive and sporting landscape, highlighting the growing role of motorsport in driving innovation and economic development.
Organised by Naija Autosports in collaboration with the National Automotive Design and Development Council, the festival brought together key stakeholders, industry players, and enthusiasts, demonstrating strong institutional backing for the growth of a structured motorsport ecosystem in the country.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Council, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, described motorsport as a critical driver of technological advancement, job creation, and youth empowerment.
He stressed the importance of deliberate policies, regulation, and sustained investment to unlock the sector’s full potential.
According to him, a well-developed motorsport industry can serve as a platform for innovation in automotive engineering, while also creating employment opportunities and fostering skills development among young Nigerians.
The event attracted prominent dignitaries and stakeholders, reflecting a shared commitment to building a professional, safe, and economically viable motorsport industry. Beyond the spectacle, participants noted the broader economic prospects embedded in the sector, including opportunities for investment, tourism, and industrial expansion.
