
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, are set to receive distinguished awards from the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Worldwide at the University of Ibadan Alumni Honours and Awards Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, in Abuja.
Professor Olatunji-Bello has been nominated for the prestigious “Worthy Ambassador” Award in recognition of her visionary leadership, exemplary service, and transformative contributions to academic excellence since assuming office as LASU’s Vice-Chancellor in 2021.
The award acknowledges alumni who demonstrate purposeful leadership and drive impactful change in higher education and national development.
Her tenure has been widely celebrated for institutional reforms, expansion of academic programmes, and an enhanced culture of excellence within the university.
Hon. Tunji Bello will be honoured with the “Meritorious Service” Award for his illustrious career in public service. His distinguished record includes serving as Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Commissioner in different administrations, and his current role as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). His award recognises his steadfast commitment to public accountability, governance reforms, and institutional strengthening across various spheres of national service.
The ceremony will be chaired by His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto, and will feature distinguished honourees including His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria, and His Excellency, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among other notable national leaders.
