
The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), on Monday, received a high-level delegation from MEMACO Alliance on a courtesy visit and strategic discussion aimed at advancing Nigeria’s automotive sector.
The delegation was led by Engr. Melhem Farah of MEMACO Alliance and was held at the NADDC Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit centered on exploring a potential partnership between MEMACO Alliance and NADDC for the establishment of an assembly plant for Electric Vehicles (EV) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers.
The proposed facility is to be located in a Free Trade Zone in Lagos, with Chinese automotive giant King Long as the technical partner for the project.
Welcoming the delegation, the Director General of NADDC, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, commended MEMACO Alliance for its interest in Nigeria’s automotive industry and reiterated the Council’s commitment to fostering industrial growth through innovation, localization, and human capital development.
He emphasized that partnerships such as this align with the Council’s strategic mandate to support local production, enhance technical training, and drive Nigeria towards a cleaner and more sustainable automotive future.
Osanipin also highlighted NADDC’s ongoing efforts in building a skilled workforce and enabling a supportive ecosystem for automotive manufacturing, especially in the areas of EV technology and alternative fuel vehicles.
In addition to the assembly plant proposal, MEMACO Alliance expressed a strong interest in partnering with NADDC to develop training programs for Nigerian technical personnel in EV maintenance and repair.
The company also conveyed its willingness to support the revitalization and optimal utilization of NADDC’s Automotive Training Centres across the country.
MEMACO Alliance, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company, was originally founded in Istanbul, Turkey under the name Alliance Enterprises.
The company specializes in turnkey industrial, construction, and energy-related projects.
It currently operates branches in Lebanon, Jordan, and China, and will be operating in Nigeria as MEMACO Alliance Nigeria Ltd.
A statement explained that the discussions mark a promising beginning to what is expected to be a transformative partnership for Nigeria’s automotive sector and broader industrial landscape.
