NADDC To Partner Anambra, Harps On Component Parts Manufacturing

The Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin has identified Nnewi, Anambra State as a hub for the manufacturing of automotive component parts in Nigeria.

 Addressing a delegation from the Anambra State Liaison Office at the Council’s headquarters in Abuja, Osanipin described component parts manufacturing as crucial to the development of the automotive industry.

Osanipin also highlighted the challenges posed by the proliferation of component parts manufacturing, particularly in the unauthorized sector.

 He stressed the importance of collaboration between NADDC and the Anambra State Government to address the issues through engagement and dialogue with manufacturers, rather than resorting to forceful measures.

Speaking at the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Internal- Government Affairs, Nkoli Anyagoku, explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between NADDC and Anambra State in driving developmental initiatives, particularly in the automotive sector.

She added that the visit was also necessitated by the need to provide updates on the ongoing projects in Nnewi and extend congratulations from the Executive Governor of Anambra State to the Director General on his well-deserved appointment.

The Director General expressed gratitude for the visit, acknowledging the critical role Anambra plays in the success of NADDC’s endeavors.

He emphasized the significance of focusing on component parts in developing the Nigeria Automotive Industry.

Anambra State has been a key player in the automotive sector, with a significant number of component parts manufacturers and beneficiaries of NADDC’s funding initiatives.

Stakeholders continued engagement was agreed upon to address these challenges and come up with strategies to propel the local auto industry forward.
