The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in tackling security challenges across the country.
Aneke made the commitment on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Olatunji Rilwan Disu, NPM, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting focused on enhancing inter-agency cooperation and building on the longstanding partnership between the NAF and NPF in advancing national security.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the CAS stressed the need for closer coordination, timely information sharing and stronger institutional cooperation to ensure a secure and peaceful electoral environment.
He also identified opportunities to maximise existing capabilities and expertise, including the deployment of NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets in support of police operations where necessary.
Responding, the IGP welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the NAF and other security agencies to safeguard national security and promote peaceful elections.
The two security chiefs also explored opportunities for joint capacity development and knowledge exchange in areas including intelligence, forensic investigations, crime scene management and criminal investigations.
According to the CAS, enhanced cooperation in training and professional development would strengthen the capabilities of personnel in both Services and further consolidate their institutional partnership.
