The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) is set to expand its humanitarian activities in Rivers State following a high-level strategic visit to the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Leading a delegation comprising members of the Association’s National Executive Council and wives of senior Nigerian Air Force officers in the state, the NAFOWA National President, Mrs Ngozi Aneke, formally sought the Rivers State Government’s collaboration to enhance the impact of the association’s welfare and empowerment programmes.
During the courtesy visit, Mrs Aneke described Rivers State as strategically important to NAFOWA’s mission, noting that the state hosts key Nigerian Air Force formations and a large community of NAFOWA members. She explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing cordial relationship between the association and the state government while establishing a more structured and impactful partnership.
The NAFOWA President highlighted the association’s threefold mandate of promoting unity among members, supporting the Nigerian Air Force, and providing humanitarian services to host communities. She further outlined several interventions driven by three core pillars which are education, healthcare, and empowerment.
According to her, these initiatives include educational support for orphans, welfare assistance to widows of fallen heroes, medical outreach programmes, and skills acquisition initiatives aimed at empowering women.
Mrs Aneke also commended Governor Fubara for his commitment to inclusive governance, noting the alignment between the state government’s focus on healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment and NAFOWA’s guiding philosophy of Service to Humanity.
In his response, Governor Fubara praised the association for its dedication to humanitarian service, noting that its contributions to community welfare also support broader national stability and security.
He assured the delegation of the Rivers State Government’s willingness to collaborate with NAFOWA, particularly in areas of humanitarian intervention and women-focused economic empowerment.
A statement explained that the visit marks a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between NAFOWA and the Rivers State Government, with the potential to expand social impact and improve the welfare of military families and vulnerable groups across the state.
